Dear PWHCE reader in Melbourne Australia,

You are cordially invited to a talk to be given by Mr Trevor Stanley, entitled "Al-Qaeda's revolutionary model: Iraq and the Madrid Bombings in Context." Last year, Trevor Stanley researched a thesis on radical Islam, the second half of which dealt exclusively with al-Qaeda. For our November talk, Trevor spoke on mainstream Islam and its radical rivals.* April's presentation will follow on from the previous talk by explaining al-Qaeda's goals and its unique model for achieving them.

In the dozen years since the withdrawal of the Soviets from Afghanistan, the first Gulf War and the fall of the Soviet Union, al-Qaeda has been building a worldwide terrorist network whose explicit aim is to duplicate the fall of the Soviet Union by completely destroying Western Civilisation. As far-fetched as al-Qaeda's plan sounds, so far its early stages are being vindicated by events in Iraq and Spain.

Mr Stanley's talk will be held :-
    at 6:30pm, on Wednesday 28th April 2004
    at Bell's Hotel and Brewery
      157 Moray Street South Melbourne
      (Corner of Coventry Street)
      Melway ref:- 2K E1
The hotel management would be appreciative if guests availed themselves of the opportunity to purchase a meal and/or drinks at the bar between 6:30 pm and 7:00pm. The talk will commence at 7:30 PM in the upstairs function room.

We are currently witnessing the most crucial battle in the war between al-Qaeda and the West, potentially the defining moment of the twenty-first century. This talk therefore provides a timely insight into our enigmatic antagonist. As usual, there will be an opportunity to ask questions or make comments at the conclusion of the talk.
