Talk: Why I Joined the ALP

Note: An interview with Chris Curtis and Jack Lloyd has recently been uploaded as the first part of PWHCE's Democratic Labor Party Oral History Project.

Dear PWHCE reader in Melbourne Australia,

You are cordially invited to a talk to be given by Mr. Chris Curtis, entitled "Why I joined the ALP." Chris has been a secondary school teacher for 28 years, 20 of them in senior positions. Due mainly to his dismay at the Kennett government's approach to education, Chris decided to join the Labor Party, in order to help remove the state coalition government from office.

Some of the guests to the Retreat Hotel talks belong to either the ALP or the Liberal Party. Irrespective of partisan allegiances, guests have always been prepared to listen to differing perspectives. Chris' talk will present another perspective because he was a State Vice-President of the Democratic Labor Party and a parliamentary candidate for that party. Therefore his talk provides an illustration of how politics can change.

Mr Curtis' talk will be held :-
    at 7:30pm, on Tuesday, 22nd October, 2002
    at The Retreat Hotel
(upstairs in the Carringbush function room)
      226 Nicholson Street
      Abbotsford
      (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)

As always there will be ample opportunity to ask the speaker questions and to participate in the ensuing discussion.
