Talk: Pope John Paul II and the End of the Twentieth Century

Dear PWHCE reader in Melbourne Australia,

You are cordially invited to a talk to be given by Mr. Andrew Rabel, entitled "John Paul II and the End of the Twentieth Century." Andrew is the Australian correspondent for the international journal "Inside the Vatican". During his long lay involvement in the Catholic Church, Andrew has also written for a number of other religious publications. During the last quarter of the twentieth century, the Pope’s impact on the Cold War, culture wars and building bridges between different faiths, has been decisive. Andrew has had a long interest in the pontificate of John Paul II, particularly his writings, and as a trained librarian/researcher is well positioned to comment on this period.

Mr Rabel's talk will be held :-
    at 6:30pm, on Wednesday 31st March 2004
    at Bell's Hotel and Brewery
      (Corner of Coventry Street)
      Melway ref:- 2K E1
The hotel management would be appreciative if guests availed themselves of the opportunity to purchase a meal and/or drinks at the bar between 6:30 pm and 7:00pm. The talk will commence at 7:30 PM in the upstairs function room.

The Pope’s critical influence on the twentieth century will continue to be relevant into this century in a way that transcends Catholicism. Andrew’s talk will reflect this and should therefore be of broad interest. As always, there will be ample opportunity to ask questions and make comments at the conclusion of the talk.

RSVP:- 24th March 2004.
