Talk: What Labor Should Stand For

To help cover the costs for the night, the Management would appreciate it if patrons avail themselves of the opportunity to purchase a meal and/or drinks at the bar between 6-45pm and 7-00pm. Meals and drinks can be taken upstairs into the function room if required at the time of the talk.

Race Mathews is a Senior Research Fellow in the International Centre for Management in Government at the Monash University/Mount Eliza School of Business and Government in Melbourne. He has been a State Member of Parliament and Minister, a Federal Member of Parliament, and a municipal councillor. He is currently secretary of the Australian Fabian Society.

In his most recent book, Jobs of Our Own, Dr Mathews describes the history of the co-operative movement ni Antigonish Canada and Mondragon Spain, which relied on elements of Catholic social thought in their development.
