Dear PWHCE reader in Melbourne Australia,

You are cordially invited to a talk to be given by a Vietnamese human rights activist, entitled "Two Sides to Every Story: Perspectives on the Vietnam War and the Iraq War". The speaker was among the first flow of Vietnamese refugees to Australia, and is a member of the Australia-Vietnam Human Rights Committee.

Having fled from Vietnam to Australia, our speaker observed that the picture of the Vietnamese situation presented by the western media was very different to what she had experienced first hand. This talk is an important opportunity to hear a balanced and up to date account of the Vietnam War and its aftermath. The talk will also relate a Vietnamese perspective on current world events such as the situation in Iraq.

The talk will be held :-
    at 6:30pm, on Wednesday 26th May 2004
    at Bell's Hotel and Brewery
157 Moray Street South Melbourne (Corner of Coventry Street)
      Melway ref:- 2K E1

The hotel management would be appreciative if guests availed themselves of the opportunity to purchase a meal and/or drinks at the bar between 6:30 pm and 7:00pm. The talk will commence at 7:30 PM in the upstairs function room.

Public figures have recently drawn analogies between the Vietnam War and the Iraq War. This talk offers the opportunity to hear a Vietnamese point of view. As always, there will be ample opportunity to ask questions and make comments at the conclusion of the talk.

RSVP:- 19th May 2004.
